The Journey worked with school children, young people, older people and other community members to play an active role in celebrating the areas rich traditions. Last year’s theme was The Journey and references the on-going development of Acton Carnival as a community-rooted, celebratory project.
Residents participated in and ran carnival arts, costume making, DJ’ing, dance, costumes and carnival t-shirts workshops and got involved in the music float and carnival camp. The project also held a street party on the estate and ran carnival arts and carnival dance taster workshops at the community centre grand opening event.
The Acton Garden Community Chest funded Pogo - Arts Easter Performing Arts Workshop - Children were given a creative outlet to engage in fun activities such as mask and puppet work to explore how performing arts can benefit their growth and development. Read More
StayActive4Life LLP received funding from the community chest in 2022 to run a Caring For Carers project, Friendship and Movement classes aimed at older adults to support participants with maintaining their independence. Read More
